Christl Hughes, Trustee awarded MBE in New Year’s Honours

Congratulations are in order for our Trustee, Christl Hughes for being awarded an MBE in the 2020 New Year’s Honours. The award was given for her services to equality and charity.
Christl has played an integral role in our mission to ensure no solicitor is unsupported in times of need or crisis. From 2015 to 2018, Christl took the reins as Chair of SBA The Solicitors’ Charity.

During this time, the organisation adopted the Joseph Rowntree Minimum Income Standard as a benchmark for assessing financial needs. In addition, the organisation increased its number of beneficiaries (by 22%) and funds made available to them (by 65%).

Speaking of her achievement, Christl said:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be given this award. It is especially affirming as my commitments to supporting those in need is a real passion for me.”

Christl is also a member of the Association of Women Solicitors London and Leicestershire Law Society. SBA The Solicitors’ Charity can’t thank Christl enough for her efforts and we are proud to have her on board.
