Adrian Rees - Chief Executive
Before joining the voluntary sector Adrian worked for the Inland Revenue where unusually for a taxman he trained in counselling as well as accountancy!
An early school leaver he achieved his law and other degrees through distance learning.
He is married with two sons and was born in Swansea. He enjoyed the Gower Peninsula before moving to Surrey where his pastime is mainly tennis. Helping people fulfils an unexplained need prompted perhaps by experiencing the kindness of others
Angi Birts - Beneficiary Secretary
Beneficiary Secretary Angi Birts has been involved with SBA beneficiaries since 1988.
She has visited many beneficiaries in their homes and also interviews applicants at the office. Angi considers it essential to try to find a quick and practical solution to applicants' financial problems.
She also acts as Deputy to Adrian Rees.
Angi is married to a judge and has a grown up family.
Sarah Collier - Beneficiary Secretary
Sarah worked for the National Trust for 19 years before joining the SBA in 2003 as Membership Secretary. Much as she enjoyed her work looking after the SBA members, Sarah was happy to be given the opportunity to join the Beneficiary department after Susie Marshall’s retirement.
Sarah is married to an architect, lives very close to Jaggard Way and loves gardening.
Annette Brotherton - Office Manager
Before joining the SBA in 2004, Annette worked in Adult Education for 17 years. Annette enjoys the variety of her role as Office Manager, which might include anything from Health & Safety, dealing with a contractor, Conditional Donations or organising the monthly Board meetings. Annette is a widow with grown-up children and loves being able to walk to work whenever possible. Her hobbies are gardening, yoga and generally keeping fit.
Katie Wylie - Marketing and Membership Manager
Katie joined the SBA in February 2007 and so far has her hands full working on the 150 Year Anniversary celebrations. Katie is originally from Scotland and has been living in London for six years with her husband and young daughter.
Katie previously worked for the drinks industry and although she misses the free wine, loves working for the SBA and being involved with the help that the charity provides.
Anne Rawlinson - General Administrator
Another new recruit to the SBA, Anne joined the team in April 2007and was immediately struck by the friendly and helpful staff.
Anne previously worked for Private Eye Magazine and the Daily Mail and although enjoyed the busy environment prefers working locally where she can go home at lunchtime and walk her dog Bruce.
Anne is married and has two grown up children and two grandchildren
John Platt - Accountant
John has been working as accountant with the SBA since 2000 and also works with Chase Children’s Hospice in Guildford, Surrey. John lives in Hampshire with his wife and enjoys playing tennis regularly. He is very much involved with village life supporting his local church.
