On receipt of your cheque we will send you an immediate acknowledgement and the Chairman will sign a letter of indemnity at the next monthly Board meeting, the wording of which is as follows:
“In consideration of your transferring the sum £_ to the Solicitors Benevolent Association (the SBA), I hereby undertake on behalf of the SBA and with the authority of the Board of the Trustees, that the Association will refund all or any part of the said sum to you when or if so requested in order to assist you to comply with your legal and professional obligations to the party entitled”.

Applicants dealing with the administration of an estate should note that Executors or Administrators have the authority to deal with unclaimed sums or monies which remain outstanding.
Please be aware that it is not normal practice to offer to pay interest which may have accrued subsequent to receipt of the conditional donation by the Association. However each application for such interest payments will be considered.
Thank you for considering the SBA; the Association certainly welcomes and makes good use of monies conditionally donated in this way. There have been very few instances of donations being re-claimed, but in each such case the money has been returned to the firm concerned immediately.
